Tuesday, our ten-week old poodle puppy, recently took her
first trip with us.
It was really exciting to watch her explore La Jolla, San Diego, curiously - one of the most memorable moments being the popular "Children's Pool."
Don't let the name fool you: the Children's Pool is not what it sounds like. This astonishingly beautiful beach was originally created as a calm, shallow area of La Jolla for young kids to play in, but the seals ended up taken a liking to it instead. Now, the beach is closed off, but visitors can stand at the edge of a rope barrier and watch the adorable seals frolicking about in the water and flopping about on the beach.
We visited the Children's Pool on a particularly stormy day, so the sea was whipped up to produce massive waves. Aside from the viewing area on the beach, there's also a great vantage point off of the road - a little green building hanging over the cliffs. We spent about ten minutes here, watching the waves smash up against shore, the seals propel themselves out of the water, and, maybe most importantly, Tuesday intently peering at the seagulls and barking at them.
A little bit about this...
All trips have their share of funny stories. We decided it would be fun to recall these laugh-out-loud moments right here, on this page.
