New York can be a daunting place to visit, especially with families. Despite this, it remains one of the most popular places among families to travel to in the United States.
Once having traveled there, I can understand why. The city is a bustle of exciting and family-fun opportunities, as well as a historical landmark with hundreds of museums, state parks, and memorials - just to name a few. My parents had already been to New York several times, but we still all discovered new places to explore.
Visiting New York became the "second half" of our Thanksgiving Trip, after Washington, D.C. I feel this is a great combination of places for multiple reasons:
The hotel exceeded our expectations by a tenfold. The staff were always very friendly and helpful, and our room had a great view of the city and was extremely comfortable. It was the perfect place to get some down-time after a day full of hustle and bustle in the city. The restaurant and bar was beautiful, contemporary and overlooked the city, and had amazing food. The location was also a huge bonus - it was only a few blocks away from Central Park, making it easy to walk everywhere.
But our fantastic hotel wasn't the only variable that went into making our trip incredible. We've decided to create a guide of "Food," "Musicals," "Art," and "Sights," based on our amazing adventures in New York.
Where to even begin? New York is known for its outstanding food, especially when it comes to Chinese. You can't walk a block without coming across the tantalizing smell of good food. My parents always try to give my brother and I a "culinary education" by bringing us to the best restaurants they can find, and this trip was no exception. The only problem: New York is brimming with mouth-watering food.
Originally, when I started writing this post, I had planned on squeezing all four topics (Food, Musicals, Art, and Sights) in one. After writing just Food, I've realized that my excitement about our trip is bound to get ahold of me, and this post might end up being even longer than Kauai. I've since decided to split the sections up into three posts (Art and Musicals will be sharing one), so there will be a bit of a divide between them. So be on the look out for more on our amazing adventures in New York!
A little bit about us...
We're a family of four (a daughter, a son, and their mother and father.... oh, and a six-month old Standard Poodle puppy). But we all share one thing in common: our love of travel and adventure!
Hotel of the Month
Solage Calistoga: the image of perfection. We stayed here recently on our trip to Napa Valley and couldn't have been more amazed at this stunning resort. The rooms, each one an individual cottage, were immaculate and private. The property itself contained multiple pools and other amenities, all of which were designed beautifully. One of our favorite parts had to be the Michelin-star restaurant, which served some of the best food we'd ever eaten. Solage Calistoga was the perfect fit for our family (and dog!), and we are eager to stay there again.
